Donald Trump's popularity is going down faster than the Titanic, yet the hoary old politician clings to the false hope that its not too late to reverse the mess that he put himself into before the midterm elections - which are now officially less than five weeks away - with many parts of the country already voting. Donald's false hope is his life raft, and it's sinking, too.
Trump's latest ploy to confuse the public about his abysmal record in office is a series of patriotic commercials that are airing on Trump-friendly media. The ads focus on Trump and feature clips from his speeches and past campaigns overlayed with text promoting his "achievements" while in office. They are pure political fare designed to fire up Trump's base and get them to the polls on election day.
But Trump and his political geese are referring to them as "public service" messages, claiming they are educational and informational in nature.
If Trump or his sugar daddy billionaires were paying for those advertisements and being honest about their purpose, they could be seen as "speech" by outfits like our "fair and balanced" US Supreme Court. The ads would still be viewed as controversial, but they should pass a judicial smell test. But even though Donald Trump is sitting on a political bankroll of $200 million (most of which was donated by his billionaire buddies as they buy access to the President and his powers), he appears to be saving that cash for his old age, and is instead paying for his purely propaganda commercials with OUR money.
You read that right.
Each of these self-glorifying, butt-wipe films ends with the tagline: "Paid for by the U.S. Government."
According to confirmed news reports by major news organizations, money for the ads (millions of dollars) was taken from allocations intended for US Customs and Border Protection, one of the few government entities that the Trump administration notoriously overfunds. But regardless of which pocket it comes out of, it's still OUR money and it is being used for political purposes and to make a mentally unwell geriatric feel better about himself.
The fact that the commercials post a boast about being paid for with OUR money is a thumb in the eye to wage-earning, taxpaying Americans. It's an elderly man standing atop a 250-foot arch flipping double birds across the nation and roaring, "I am America and I will spend MY money however I damned well please!"
This taxpayer objects! If Trump wants to inflate his own ego, let Elon do it. We've blown him long enough.
