In yet one more attempt to weed out any vestiges of diversity, equity, and inclusion - and basic human decency - and human dignity - from our national society, the Trump administration, through its Treasury Department, proposed new rules this past week that would end tax-exempt status for any private schools found to offer benefits toward admissions, scholarships, and the use of facilities based on race. The new rules are just more examples of the Trump administration misusing Civil Rights-era laws to justify overt racism in American institutions based on the Trump position that programs designed to make up for generations of social and economic abuse caused by racism against people of color actually discriminate against white and Asian Americans.
The Trumpers argue that programs designed to correct for decades and centuries of accrued disadvantage based on race and racism serve as 'reverse discrimination,' which, in their twisted view, is harmful to white Americans - and they invoke Civil Rights-era legislation to defend their efforts to keep people of color at the very bottom of the socio-economic ladder in America.
And if the IRS or the Treasury Department concludes that a black or brown person received any sort of leg-up from a school because of their long generational history of being held down by white society - bang! - that school loses its tax-exempt status. The schools will continue to offer a better social and economic fit to the historically white privileged class - or else!
I have written about the Trump administration's overt racism before. It's out there, in plain sight, not caring whether it is called out or not. The white race - as big portion's of Trump's base would no doubt refer to themselves - is on the ascendancy. The South, as personified by the stars and bars of the Confederate flag, is rising again.
The nation's ugliest period of slavery is being rewritten in American history books as being kinder, gentler, and more paternalistic than the living hell it actually was. Trump himself bemoans the 'cultural' loss of Confederate statues being removed from public places, and US military bases being stripped of names honoring Confederate officers in the Civil War - and he is 'correcting' those cultural outrages where he can in the hypocritical guise of stamping out racism. The Trump administration has stalled an connived to keep the image of Harriet Tubman, a black heroine, off of the $20 bill, yet he rushed his own image onto a dollar coin and 'jokes' about putting his picture n a $250 dollar bill. And the Trump administration - through Defense Secretary Hegseth, has been zealous in removing women and people of color from the top ranks of our nation's officer corps. ICE is removing immigrants of color, sometimes en masse, from our shores while our government actually pays white South Africans to immigrate here.
Slather as much lipstick on that pig as you want, but at the end of the day it's still a pig and it's still racist.
The end game is to keep people of color at the bottom of society - and everybody knows it.
The end game is to make America white again - and everybody knwos it.
It's a holy crusade - and a flaming narcissist born into a life of arrogance and privilege shall lead them.
Praise Jesus and the white steed he rode in on!
