Taxpaying Missouri Voter
When the US Supreme Court, with the Dobbs' Decision in June of 2022, overturned a half-century of women in the United States having a constitutional right to abortion procedures, Missouri's cracker GOP-dominated state legislature was ready. It had already passed a measure that would "trigger" a complete abortion ban in Missouri the moment that the US Supreme Court overturned Roe V Wade - which it did with the Dobbs' Decision - and minutes after that decision was announced Missouri became the first state in the nation to completely ban abortions.
Our legislators here in the "show-me" state had shown themselves how very proud and gallant they were to protect the rights of their wimmin folk by denying them the right to make their own healthcare decisions, something the gals were obviously incapable of doing without the help of Republican politicians.
But Missourians, and especially Missouri female voters, were not happy to sit quietly in that patriarchial sludge and let a bunch of farmers and preachers in the legislature tell them what they could and could not do with their own bodies. Two years later, in 2024, Missouri citizens passed petitions in an initiative process and got a referendum on the ballot to amend the state constitution and reinstate a right to abortion - and it passed! That measure was called "Amendment 3; The Right to Reproductive Freedom Initiative."
But the good ol' boys (and a few good ol' gals) in the Missouri State Legislature were not happy with the vote of the people and quickly convinced themselves that the people had made a grievous error - no doubt due to direct interference from Satan. So our self-righteous legislators fought implementation of the new constitutional right as long as they could while drafting a counter measure for a vote of the public - a proposed a new constitutional amendment that would nullify the last one. In what was likely a move to confuse voters, this measure is also called "Amendment 3," and it will be on the ballot in Missouri this November.
Recently it was revealed that Missouri's GOP (of course) attorney general, Catherine Hannaway, a former Speaker of the Missouri House and a failed candidate for governor, has used public money - our tax dollars - to promote the new Amendment 3, the one that would, again, strip away the rights of Missouri women to control their own bodies and healthcare decisions - and again deny them the ability to seek abortions within the state.
Hey, Cathy this Missouri voter and taxpayer - of more than half-a-century - does not want his tax dollars being used to confuse voters into overturning the recently passed will of the people. If you want to get out and support a state constitutional amendment to subvert the rights of women in Missouri, USE YOUR OWN DAMNED MONEY TO DO IT - NOT MINE!
Other than that, have a nice day - and we'll see you at the polls in November - again!
