There was a brief exchange of insults earlier this week at political rally in Michigan in which a protester in the crowd shouted at the speaker, Donald Trump, that he was a "pedophile protecter," an obvious reference to the Trump administrations's reluctance to release the Epstein files. Trump, ever the model of restraint and decorum, blasted back that the protester was a "communist." Trump said, "He's a communist, we're running against communists."
Have mercy! The bellicose ghost of Joe McCarthy was on stage trying to re-ignite the Red Scare, a sleazy political tactic that hadn't been used in public by a major US politician since Richard Nixon.. But Trump, a man devoid of both principle and pride, and who is not known for thinking deeply or quickly, went straight to the darkest corner of his lizard brain and came up with "communist," a remnant of the ugliest of politics in the 1950's, a time when Trump was an actual schoolyard bully and just learning the fine art of name-calling. He probably expected the protester to yell back something equally intelligent like, "Yeah, so's your mother!"
If "communist" is the best you've got, Donnie, put a cork in it - and release the damned Epstein files!
