Notes from the Land of Contented Rattlesnakes and Satisfied Scorpions

It rained last night and early this morning in the Valley of Heck, not much, but enough to get the ground wet.  That lovely rain was followed today by a high temperature somewhere in the seventies - with a nice breeze!

This wonderful weather is playing itself out in many ways.  Jan Brewer, our perpetually angry governor, has lightened up.  Not only did she accept the Obama Medicaid increase, then she forced her legislature to go along with that unprecedented expansion of the welfare state.  Now she has pointed her evil finger at our state's representatives in Congress and told them to back-off of trying to defund Obamacare.  Jan had an epiphany that the Republican effort to kill medical care for the masses was a fool's errand.

As the temperature dips into the two digits, Jan's IQ rises into the three digits - or thereabouts.

It has been days and days since any prisoners have died in Joe Arpaio's jails, and some people (not me) are actually trying to paint John McCain as a statesman.

It has to be the weather!

And if all of that wasn't enough, today the mailman brought two letters from Publisher's Clearing House, one of which almost assures me on the outside of the envelope that I have probably already won $7,000 a week for life.  It has been years since the last time those folks found me - so it must be fate, and the wonderful weather!

Why would a person want to live anyplace else?
