Son of the Sixties
Police in Philadelphia were out in force last week protecting the rights of property and the ability of oligarchs to maintain and expand their wealth, and it's fortunate for the world order that they were because the Philly cops managed to capture a dangerous revolutionary. The uniformed guardians of property rights descended (no doubt "in force") on a 78-year-old woman as she blatantly interfered with commerce on the sidewalks of the city of "brotherly love."
What was the heinous crime of this modern-day Ma Barker or Bonnie Parker, you ask? The old malcontent had her feet planted firmly on the sidewalk as she stood squarely in the path of an Amazon delivery bot, refusing to let it pass. After being arrested and charged with "disorderly conduct," the woman admitted to past offenses where she had done the same despicable thing - and she was not the least bit remorseful over her wanton criminal behavior.
But it turns out the lady was more than just a sidewalk nuisance, or an elder thug trying to make a name for herself in the annals of senior crime - she was a full-fledged anarchist who was out trying to bring America's corporate sector to its knees. The sinister senior citizen was disturbed by the delivery bots because they take jobs away from real human beings - just to enable the oligarch pigs at America's trough more super-sized yachts, long-range private jets, private islands, trophy wives, and underage playmates.
Being 78-years-old myself, I admit to feeling a special kinship to the urban radical who is trying to bring down Amazon one delivery bot at a time. I refuse to use automated checkouts in stores for the same obstinate reason. But I must admit that I've never gone up against a delivery bot - and until today I didn't even know such things existed.
I have nothing but admiration and the highest regard for the lady in Philadelphia who went to jail so that somebody else could have a job. In the immortal words of Jan and Dean: "Go granny, go granny, go granny, go!"
