Everything's Up to Date in Kansas City - Or Is It?

* * * * *   Election Dispatch #4   * * * * *

An old friend who lives in the Kansas burbs of Kansas City has forwarded a few voting nuggets during the day.   He reported that there were "ballot availability" issues at KC's beautiful Union Station (the site of the famed Kansas City Massacre in June of 1933).  He noted that the shortage of ballots had slowed voting, but the lines were still moving.  He also said that residents of Kansas City whose domicile was in the Jackson County portion of that city, were being allowed to vote at the KC Chief's Arrowhead Stadium.

I think voting is a great use of those large public venues like stadiums - lots of room to service lots of people!

One other note of interest from the KC catchment area.  Friday evening there was apparently an election-related shooting just down the road in the Kansas capital of Topeka.  Early reports indicate that a homeowner confronted three individuals - possibly teens - whom he accused of stealing some of his "Trump" yard signs.  Three people were shot.  One individual was transported to a local hospital by ambulance with "life-threatening" injuries, and two other wounded individuals arrived at the same hospital by private automobile.    A neighbor reported that one person had left the scene in handcuffs.  Police say no arrests have been made, and they are asking witnesses to come forward.

I have heard from two individuals that businesses have been boarded up in Kansas City's famed "Plaza,' undoubtedly as a precaution against possible violence.   One even mentioned that gun sales are up in the area.

Kansas, bloody Kansas!
