It is Monday, a beautiful day in America, and Barack Hussein Obama has just been sworn into office for his second four-year term as our President. Presidential inaugurations are grand affairs, fueled with pomp and pageantry. politicians and foreign dignitaries, entertainers, religious leaders, the military, and school children and thousands-upon-thousands of average Americans.
There was also a poet on the program, an amazing young man of Cuban extraction who was born in Spain and moved to the Untied States when he was just an infant. That poet, Richard Blanco, read an original work entitled "One Today." It felt appropriate to me to preserve a bit of this wonderful day in The Ramble by printing Richard Blanco's inaugural poem in this space. It is a powerful work. I hope you enjoy it.
