Pa Rock Plots his Own Odyssey

Now that I've checked "outliving Lindsey Graham" off of my bucket list, there is room to add something, and I have decided to go with "Viewing Christopher Nolan's new film version of Homer's epic poem, 'The Odyssey,' in an actual movie theatre."  Here is some my reasoning for that addition:

First, I'm familiar with the material and know it to be a great story.  A chunk of it was included in our high school's literature books, and while reading an epic poem was, at times, an epic slog, our teacher, Mrs. Paul, liked it was was able to keep the class focused and interested in the story.  It seems like we were also introduced to "The Illiad," as well, but I am kind of muddled on that point - it has been over sixty years!  Both of Homer's great tales of adventure were also referenced in our world history texts.

I have seen (on multiple occasions) the Coen Brothers' movie,"Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?", which is their take on Homer's's "Odyssey," a timeless story that transposed perfectly over a tale of America's rural South during the Great Depression.  "Oh, Brother"  is one of my favorite movies.

Second, I have a strong inteerest in movies that goes back to my earliest years when our family's idea of an evening outing was a trip to the drive-in theatre, the beautiful Edgewood in Neosho, Missouri, whose facade resembled an old southern mansion.    I actually worked as a movie theatre projectionist while in high school at the Ozark Theatre in Noel, Missouri, and during college in Springfield, Missouri, at the Tower Theatre.  I had popcorn in my blood - and loved the movies - and still do!

Third, I relish the experience of actually going to the movies, but have not been inside of a movie theatre since before Trump's pandemic.   The last movie I remember seeing at a theatre was Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time . . . in Hollywood," at a very nice venue in the Kansas suburbs of Kansas City sometime in 2019.

I would like at least one more movie theatre experience before 'outliving me' gets crossed off of somebody else's bucket list - so now I need to get off of my tired butt and make that happen!
