Proud Grandpa
My second oldest grandchild, Sebastian Phoenix Files, is eight-years-old today. Sebastian, missing the Fourth of July by only one day, was almost a firecracker baby. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona, which is always hotter than a firecracker in July!
My oldest grandchild, Boone, was only eight-years-old when Sebastian was born. Boone and his daddy and I rode the train to Arizona that summer to meet Sebastian, and Boone busied himself on part of the trip trying to figure out how old he would be when Sebastian was finally old enough to play with him. Well Boone, he's old enough now!
Now Sebastian lives in Salem, Oregon with his parents and his brother, Judah, and his sister, Willow.
Have a wonderful birthday, Sebastian. I hope to be out to see you in a few weeks!

Thank you Dad. I saw that you called a couple of times. I'm glad you called Scott because I wasn't able to get to the phone today! Sebastian had a good birthday. You know he's an incredible older brother when he lets baby sister & brother blow out his birthday candles with him. He got his first pair of roller skates (something he's been wanting) & a new bike (something he's been needing). Scott and I stayed up until after 2 in the morning creating a balloon avalanche on his bedroom door last night. He loved that. He opened his door on his birthday morning & was greeted with an avalanche of balloons cascading down on him. We had told him stories about the day he was born & our time in the hospital with him before he went to bed that night. He loves hearing stories from the past. He always likes the part when we tell him that he was wailing so loud when he was born that Meemaw & Granddad could hear him down the hall & knew exactly which room to go to.
