Sully Turns Ten in Steamboat Springs

by Pa Rock
Proud Grandpa

My youngest grandchild, Sullivan Charles Macy, reaches double digits today as he celebrates his 10th birthday in beautiful Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  Sully is in the Rockies to attend a family reunion with his father and mother, Tim and Erin, and his older sister, Olive.  Roman, his good friend from back home in Kansas, is also on the trip to help Sully celebrate big number TEN!

The boys have been hiking and exploring Steamboat Springs and the Yampa Valley since arriving in Colorado two days ago, and they are also planning on learning the basics of fly-fishing while they are there.  My grandson, as reported in this space on other occasions, is quite the fisherman!  Sully is also into basketball and plays on a team that his Dad coaches, and though old Pa Rock has yet to be able to attend a single one of Sully's games, he has heard numerous reports of how talented his grandson is on the court.  Sully, my goal is to make it to at least one of your games before this season ends!

Travel is food for the soul, and Sully's soul must be full to the brim because Tim and Erin have taken their children on some wonderful trips.  I know they have been to Oregon on multiple occasions as well as South Padre Island in Texas, the Gulf Coast, the coast of Maine, New York City, and even Hawaii.  I hope that Sully is able to make those same types of travel adventures available to his children because travel is such an important component of growth and education.  The further you go, the more able you are to see and understand the entirety of the world and how your little piece of it fits in to the bigger picture.

Happy birthday, Sully!  We wish you and Roman and your entire family the best vacation ever!  With love from Pa Rock, Uncle Nick, Rosie, and especially Gypsy who wishes she was out there running through those mountains with you!  Enjoy being ten!
