Embarrassment of Begging for a Peace Prize

It is a sad state of affairs when the leader of one of the world's most important countries has to go begging for something that he really, really wants, yet that is exactly the fate that has befallen American man-child Donald Trump.  Trump wants the Nobel Peace Prize so badly that it threatens to impact his golf game.  And he deserves it!  Trump and his vengeance-fueled "War Department" have stopped many wars that no one has even heard of!  Of course they have - bless their hearts!

Trump's immigrant mother is no longer alive to march into the school and demand special treatment for her Darling Donald, but before she and Fred were flung from this mortal coil, they were able to instill in their showboat son the unlimited benefits of bullying.

Last week after Japan's new prime minister, Sanae Takaichi, met with Trump in Asia, she announced that she will be nominating him for the Nobel Peace Prize.  That is a much more economical way to ob,tain preferential treatment from the American leader than purchasing large amounts of his family's dodgy crypto currency - or inviting them to open a golf resort on a patch of prime Japanese real estate.

And Takaichi isn't the only world leader to pay attention to Trump's near-constant plaintive cries about how deserving he is of the honor.  Bibi Netanyahu of Israel has, of course, nominated Trump for the prize.  Pakistan says it will also nominate the American President, as will Cambodia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.  It's a great way to stroke the old man's ego without buying a ton of soon-to-be worthless crypto.

Republicans traditionally don't do well in the Peace Prize chase.  The last GOP President to win the coveted recognition was Theodore Roosevelt more than a century ago, and TR would certainly not identify with today's Republican Party, nor would they be accepting of him.

If you "need" that reward to define your image or your legacy, Donbo, get your butt out of the ballroom and go earn it.   Stop the saber-rattling and find out why citizens of other countries feel the need to flee their homes and migrate to the United States.  Send in aid instead of drones.  If cities in the United States are less than enthusiastic about your leadership, resist the urge to go to war with them, and instead go visit and find out what's going on.  Wouldn't it be great to be respected and loved in all fifty states instead of just the ones you select to be winners?

Trying to re-ignite the American Civil war is not the best approach to winning recognition for being a peacemaker.

Don't beg for something you clearly don't deserve.  Put in decades of work with the true aim of peace, and it will seek you out - just as it did Jimmy Carter, Nelson Mandela, Mother Theresa. the 14th Dali Lama,  Mikhail Gorbachev, Aung San Suu Kyi, Doctors Without Borders, International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, World Food Programme, and so many other truly selfless individuals and organizations.

Ending foreign aid, abolishing food programs, bombing migrant boats, and re-igniting nuclear testing is really going against the flow of peace.  Can't you see that?

Begging for something you clearly don't deserve should be embarrassing, and so should having no shame.
