Proud Grandpa
Boone Macy, my oldest grandchild, showed up for his annual holiday visit with me and his dad this week - and he brought along his girlfriend!
Boone, a college junior who will be twenty-one this spring, is currently focused on becoming an elementary school teacher, a career choice that insures he will live in abject poverty as he selflessly dedicates his life to the education and well-being of others. This former teacher can't imagine why Boone would pursue such a hare-brained career, but wishes him all the success in the world as he reaches out and touches more lives than he ever imagined possible.
When Boone isn't involved with school or romance, he works as a desk clerk and a large hotel, a job that is probably more educational than anything he would ever encounter in college!
And for the record, we liked the girlfriend, too!
Come see us whenever you can, Boone. You will always have a place at my table and in my heart.

Glad he was able to make it out there! I really need a good picture of him for the calendar!
Tell Boone that his career choice is commendable. He has chosen a track where he serves his community. A far better choice than selling one's soul for greed and avarice. I urge him to pursue postgraduate degrees which will not only enhance his earnings but will allow him to also teach the teachers.
If the school board gets too dysfunctional perhaps his future wife, whoever she might be, can run for a seat on the board.
