Successful Recuperator
I've had so much good news today that I should have rushed out and bought a Powerball or Mega Millions lottery ticket.
This morning I had the first follow-up appointment with my heart surgeon. After a hands-on exam, he announced that I was doing very well in my recovery from the open heart surgery that took place four weeks ago next Tuesday. At that point I asked him which of my several doctors would make the decision to let me start driving. Without hesitating, he said, "I will, and you can start today." I had expected approval in six to eight weeks after the surgery, so his announcement was very welcome.
I decided to go for broke and asked when I could start back to work. Again he said that I could begin immediately. (I am going to start on Monday with a week of half-days just to get back into the grind gradually.)
Later, at home, I told my sister that I was going to try lying down on my tall, antique bed. (I have been sleeping on the couch since returning from the hospital because I was able to get on and off of it without assistance.) To my utter surprise and pleasure, I learned today that not only can I lie down on my bed, but I can also get myself off of it - without assistance!
My body is getting better, and my psychological state has improved beyond measure!
My thanks to all of you who kept me in your thoughts and prayers.
