Midnight, Before and After
Deleterious
descending
darkness
shades slipping
through twilight
roam the river’s rim
catching the cricket cacophony
celebrating
the death of daylight
drab and droll
the willful waters wend
quietly
toward tomorrow
where a seething sun
will ignite Icarus
boldly
begetting
beauty.
