Diplomacy for Dummies: Don Junior Does Greenland

As I sit typing at the computer in my toasty home in the frigid Missouri Ozarks, I take some comfort in knowing that Don Junior. the the clown prince of Mar-a Lago, is freezing his cajones off in Greenland.  The President-Elect's son arrived in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, in his daddy's private plane within the past couple of hours on what he initially described as a "day trip" to film some footage for a podcast - and what his (very) old man has since described as being more of a fact-finding mission.

Don Senior has been blowing smoke about buying Greenland, which is NOT FOR SALE, since 2019 when he brought up the subject late in his first term as President, and a few days ago he again floated the idea - along with two other non-starters:  making Canada our 51st state and seizing the Panama Canal Zone.  At the same time Don Senior has his Co-President-Elect, Elon, making noises on his social media platform about pulling Greenland into the US fold, and also statements that seem to be aimed at destabilizing key US allies in Europe.

Don Senior has named a political ally from Florida, Senator Marco Rubio, as the in-coming Secretary of State, but with foreign policy being announced and conducted not only by himself, but also by Junior and Elon, it seems unclear as to what exactly the responsibilities of a Secretary of State would be.  Perhaps running the snack bars at Foggy Bottom?

In any event, Junior is doing Greenland today, but only as an uninvited tourist.   There are no official meetings set with any Greenlander or Danish officials - and Greenland is STILL NOT FOR SALE!

But stock up on a few snow globes while you are there, Junior.  Souvenir sales are good for the local economy!
