Americans Are Far Better than Our Leader

Literally millions of people showed up across America for the third in a national series of "No Kings" rallies and protests across our nation in less than a year.  This time the policies and practices (and vulgarities) of Donald Trump have reached such levels of disgust that the protests spread out into the international sphere with major anti-Trump protests occurring in countries across Europe and as far away as Tokyo, Japan.  It was an experience of worldwide solidarity on one very ugly issue:  the malignant influence that Donald Trump is having on life in the United states as well as abroad.

More that 3,300 individual protests took place yesterday, with sign-carrying marchers numbering above ten million nationwide.

With the murder of two American citizens in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area by members of Trump's private army of armed and masked Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, the rally at the state capitol in St. Paul, Minnesota, close to where the murders occurred, became one of the central-focus gatherings of the day.  The crowd there was estimated to be over 200,000, making it the largest protest in Minneota history.  Bruce Springsteen was there to inspire the massive crowd with his new protest song, "The Street's of Minneapolis," along with progressive political icon Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, folksinger Joan Baez, who has been an active presence in American protest movements for more than sixty years, Oscar-winning actress Jane Fonda, and a slew of Minnesota politicians including Governor Tim Walz and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.

It was a day of peaceful, yet aggressive, resistance to America's slide away from the principles of democratic rule on which this nation was built, and a rededication to getting the country back on its arc toward universal suffrage and justice for all.

Millions and millions of underpaid and overworked Americans gave up their day off, or a day's pay, to show the world how they feel about our impaired and untethered leader and his administration of pathetic "yes" men.  The world and Donald Trump have been put on clear notice that he does not speak for all of us!

American's are far better than our leader.
