It doesn't take an Einstein to figure out that Jane Cunningham of St. Louis (Republican Rep) is stupid. Whether she is educated or not, I don't know. But she surely isn't smart. Check out the stuff she proposes and you will see. However, labeling the Chronicle as "effete" is disingenuous. It is also not an intellectual rag. It is, simply, a very good and functional news magazine for higher education, and does an excellent job of that. Effete would more likely jive with the Atlantic Magazine, although it seems less intellectual today than it did 30 years ago, but that could just be my level of reading that's changed.
