Is Mitt a Unicorn? Thousands of Inquiring Minds Want to Know

Only in Arizona...

According to a current story by Matthew Hendley in the Phoenix New Times, the absolute most reliable print news source out of the Valley of Hell, over 17,000 individuals have signed petitions to Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett demanding that he investigate and determine whether Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is a unicorn - and thus ineligible to run for president.

Bennett recently made national news when he nearly went to war with Hawaii in an effort to learn if President Obama was indeed born in that state.  Bennett acted at the behest of a mere 1,200 individuals who sent him emails asking that he investigate Obama's birth and determine his eligibility to be on the ballot.   Now, when faced with a request for information on Romney from a much larger group of individuals, Bennett terms their request "ridiculous."

Really, Ken?  More ridiculous than kowtowing to a group of permanently deranged birthers and  investigating something that has been proven time and time again - that Barack Obama is indeed a natural born citizen of the United States of America?

Ken Bennett is the co-chair of Romney's Arizona campaign.

But back to the subject at hand - Mitt Romney's potential ineligibility to be President because he might possibly be a unicorn.  Some of the people pushing the issue note that a small unicorn horn could be lurking beneath Romney's big hair.  It is also interesting that so far Mr. Romney has not stepped forward to deny the allegation.

The petition to Ken Bennett, currently bearing signatures of more than 17,000 concerned citizens, states in part:

"I understand that you are considering kicking President Obama off the ballot because some people continue to raise questions about his birth.  Well, I believe it cannot be proven conclusively that Mitt Romney is not a unicorn.  A unicorn would not be qualified to be President.  Thus, I hope you will apply the same standard to Romney, and investigate the unicorn question."

That certainly sounds like a fair request to me.

To Mr. Bennett's credit, he announced this week that Barack Obama's Hawaiian birth checks out, and the President's name will appear on the Arizona ballot in November.    No word yet as to how many of those 1,200 birthers will now be satisfied with Barack Obama's constitutional right to serve as Commander-in-Chief, but it will probably be damned few.  He is still black, you know.
