Trent Franks is an Embarrassment

by Pa Rock
Arizona Voter

While my congressman, Trent Franks (R-AZ), may not be the dumbest member of Congress (only because the competition for that title is so fierce), he certainly is a contender. Franks, a red-white-and-blue birther, is also a proud tool of the religious right and its anti-abortion rabble. He was recently parroting one of their talking points about American blacks being victimized by abortion, when he drifted off into a discussion of slavery.

Mr. Franks, after alleging that "half of all black children are aborted," then added:

"Far more of the African-American community is being devastated by the policies of today than were devastated by the policies of slavery."

Really!

Congressman Franks apparently yearns for the good old days of slavery when the happy colored folk sat on the creek bank all day fishing and eating watermelon!

Trent, wasn't American History required when you were in high school? You must have slept through some of the more important lectures.

I'm sure that Trent Franks is not the least bit embarrassed by his asinine comment, but as a voter of Arizona's second district, I am embarrassed for him!
